JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) is a method used for compressing image files and the name of the file format supported by many digital cameras. It is a format, which allows different levels of image compression from high quality and larger files to lower quality and smaller files i.e. from lossless to lossy. Actually, compressing an image file reduces the size of the image file by removing some amount of pixels. Therefore, think twice while compressing images because more compression can degrade the image quality. JPEG files are able to display up to 16 millions of colors hence they are most commonly used on web pages and by digital cameras. Digital cameras store these files in external memory i.e. memory card because, internal memory of digital camera is very low and that can hold less number of images. Memory cards use flash technology and they are able to store large number of images. SD cards, XD cards, MMC, CF cards etc are the different types of memory cards used by digital cameras. Memory cards use non-volatile memory i.e. it can store images even after power is turned off. Sometimes, you may lose these precious images due to some logical corruption in memory cards. In such case, relevant JPEG image recovery tool is the only way by which you can save your precious photos.

Images stored on memory cards can also be transferred to your computer using card reader. When you connect memory card to computer via card reader, Operating System detects it as another drive and assigns drive letter after that you can edit, open any images stored on memory card. Sometimes, you may accidentally remove card reader while transferring images to your computer resulting in loss of images. In few cases, sudden power failure may occur while transferring images which may corrupt the file system of your memory cards. Memory cards generally use FAT32 file system. When the file system of memory card gets corrupted, then the images become inaccessible resulting in loss of images.

Therefore, make use of UPS to avoid sudden power failures and do not remove memory card abruptly from the card reader to avoid loss of images. In order to disconnect memory card properly, use “Safely Remove Hardware” icon. If you have lost images from memory card or if your memory card has been corrupted then do not use affected memory card to store new photos to avoid permanent loss.

Remo Recover (Windows) Media Edition can recover lost images from severely corrupted memory cards. SD cards, XD cards, MMC, CF cards are the different types of memory cards supported by this software. This software can identify and recover different types of image files like JPEG, TIFF, PNG, BMP, GIF etc. Along with image files, this software can also recover lost or accidentally deleted audio files, video files, text files etc from the memory cards. This software can also recover lost image files from accidentally formatted memory cards. Download free demo version to preview recovered images from the memory card.
